Woman Reading in the Studio, Albert Besnard, 1887

Daily Thoughts 04/09/2014

On the way to work, I read a little more of Smarter by Dan Hurley.  I am reading about the concept of cognitive control.  This encompasses attention, impulse control, and short term memory.  It is our ability to focus so we can get things done, avoid making impulsive decisions, and not forget what we are doing.

I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library this morning.  I also checked the displays and gift books.

There are a few projects around the library.  Circulation is shifting the adult books and maintenance is taking down some broken shelving.

There is a nice supply of books on Michelle Obama for the book club on April 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m..  Also, the graphic novel, The Harlem Hellfighters written by Max Brooks and illustrated by Caanan White came in for me to read.

I spent a little time with a colleague working on a grant today.  I also spent some time working with the oversize books today.

There is a special meeting today of the Mount Vernon Public Library Board of Trustees to discuss the budget for the Library Vote Campaign at 6:30 p.m.. in the Trustees room.

The article reads like something right out of the classic Weird Tales fantasy magazine.
