Daily Thoughts 01/04/2014

Happy New Year. I was off yesterday because I am working Saturday. Today, I am snowed in at home. I am reading, drinking tea, watching movies, and of course shoveling snow. The library was closed today. Sometimes, it snows a lot.

I have been reading the book Strategy, a History which is a giant book. Right now, I am reading about Carl Von Clausewitz who is one of the founders of strategic concepts in modern warfare. A lot of his ideas are centered around the wars with Napoleon Bonaparte. There is also a little bit on the international peace movement and Leo Tolstoy's famous novel War and Peace. In fact, the books includes quite a bit of references to literature. There is even a section on Milton's Paradise Lost about the devils conflict with heaven.
