I checked the library Twitter and Facebook today.

I did my first assignment for my Grants and Fundraising class online.

I read some more of Paper Paging Through History.  I am reading about the origins of writing from cave paintings to clay tablets.

I read some of A Writer's Guide to Active Setting How to Enhance Your Fiction With More Descriptive, Dynamic Settings by Mary Buckham.  I am reading about how characterization affects setting.

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

I placed the book, The Nix by Nathan Hill on hold.

I started reading Paper Paging Through History by Mark Kurlansky.  We learn that paper was invented in China, then spread to Japan, then the Arabic countries.  This is a well designed book with nice end papers, quality paper, and excellent typography.  The book is printed by Quad Graphics in Fairfield, designed by Barbara Bachman, and the production manager is Julia Druskin.  The quality of the book makes it easier to read.

I started my class today for grant writing and fundraising.  I introduced myself and am working on a needs statement for the class.  I thought this list of grants was interesting.

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

I got my login for the Fundraising and Grantsmanship Class I am taking starting on September 5, 2016.

I finished reading Invisble Influence The Hidden Forces That Shape Behavior by Jonah Berger today.  It is about social influence and how it affects our decisions.  The author describes how we have a tendency to discount how others peoples decisions and actions change our own.  I thought the book was mildly entertaining.  There are notes and an index.

I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library this morning.

On the way to work, I read some of Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates.  The book is well written, short, and easy to read.  It helped me understand some things about African American history as well as the reason why so many African Americans spend time in Paris.  I especially liked the material on Howard University.

I checked the displays and gift books this morning.  I also checked on the computer lab.

I placed a small order with Davidson titles.  I also prepared an order of new books today.

I spent a little time updating Bookletters with some new titles for this month.

I printed up some more flyers to distribute.

I read some more of Invisible Influence on the way home.  I am reading about how social influence affects our decisions on things like energy efficiency and water use.  A lot of the material in this book is about advertising and corporate decisionmaking.  The book is very business oriented.

I finished reading Between the World and Me.  Although the book was about race, I found it also touched a lot on the personal meaning of history for the individual.  I thought the concept of the body as something which countries and civilization try to control could also be used to describe Rome and Egypt.

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

Last night, I read some more of Invisible Influnce.  I am reading about how mimicry makes people like each other more.  On the train to work, I read about how people identify with different brands.

I checked the gift books and the displays.  I put out the latest copy of the Bookpage and read it.

Bruce Fabricant came by with his book, Mount Vernon, NY Sports Champions, Heroes, and Legends.  There is a very strong interest in sports in Mount Vernon. 

I spent some time preparing materials for events in October.  I also took a look at the Arts Alive grant from Arts Westchester today.

There was a Beginning Microsoft Excel class today from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

I checked out the book, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates today.  We are reading it for our book club on September 29, 2016.  I also checked out the book, Paper Paging Through History by Mark Kurlansky.
