Daily Thoughts 07/12/2013

This morning, I read a little more of Jaron Lanier's Who Owns the Future?.  He uses the term, "Siren Server" a lot.  He describes this as a top level server that controls a lot of information and generates money for people who own it.  Some of the associations he attaches to this concept from spying to stealing information, to concentrating wealth are a little unsavory.  It is something worth thinking about.

This morning, I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library, checked the gift books, and spent some time organizing the displays a little better.

I took a little time to look at the new Indestructible Hulk Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.  It was fun light reading.  I remember when the character was the Incredible Hulk.  I guess they have reinvented the story for a new generation.

I put in a blanket hold for our August book club books, Tell The Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt.  Blanket holds send a request to send several copies of a particular book to our library for different reasons like having a book club or reading.
