Daily Thoughts 10/12/2014
I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.
I was at the First Presbyterian Church this afternoon as part of a photo op. Three of the trustees and a colleague were there as well. We were acknowledging that Arts Westchester provided a special grant to organizations in Mount Vernon, New York. We were there because of the grant of $3000 to have a poetry workshop series. I talked briefly with Arts Westchester about their artist directory.

On the way home I read some more of Superintelligence. This book covers more than just artificial intelligence. It also covers crowd sourcing artificial intelligence, nootropics (smart drugs), man machine interfaces, genetic engineering or selection of humans, and biological computers in addition to standard artificial intelligence. It also recognizes three different kinds of artificial intelligence, speeded up decision or computation ability, crowd based intelligence, and qualitatively improved intelligence. It reminds me of some things I have read recently. Google uses quality rater to test its search algorithms in a system called Ewoq. This is an example of crowd sourced intelligence. http://www.searchenginejournal.com/how-does-google-use-quality-raters/37413/ An Experiment In Music and Crowdsourcing. http://googleresearch.blogspot.com/2012/05/experiment-in-music-and-crowd-sourcing.html
