The Room of Flowers, Childe Hassam, 1894

Daily Thoughts 07/22/2014

I read a bit more of House of Outrageous Fortune this morning.  The first chapter is about the history of high end apartment buildings in Manhattan.  The second chapter is the real estate history of the Zeckendorf's the developers for 15 Central Park West in Manhattan.

This morning, I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library.  I also checked the displays and gift books.  There were a few books to add like Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories by Sandra Cisneros and a large print edition of The Dubliners by James Joyce printed by Dover.  It is the first time I have seen large prints from Dover.

I spent some time working on publicity for an author presentation on July 29, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..  We are having Rosemary Harris, Jane Cleland, and Jonathan Santlofer as a panel at the Mount Vernon Public Library to discuss their mystery novels.  It should be an excellent presentation.  I posted the flyer on Facebook, sent it out through Mailchimp, had it sent to city hall, and did a display with some of their books.  I also ordered some more of their books so they can be sold at the panel.  There is an announcement in the Mount Vernon Daily Voice.  Mystery Authors Panel Discussion http://mountvernon.dailyvoice.com/events/classes-lectures/722558/mystery-authors-panel-discussion

I have a copy of the New York Times Book Review and the Baker and Taylor Forecast to read.

I read a bit more of House of Outrageous Fortune.  The authors are describing the history of the market for high end condominiums like Trump Tower and Olympic Towers.
