I checked the library Twitter and Facebook.

I read some more of The Goodness Paradox.  I am reading about the biology of aggression.

I watched part of the series, How We Got to Now, Clean on Kanopy.

I have been focusing on getting more people to work on the ensus.

This weekend is the Digital Weekend of Action for the Census 2020


We did our first Zoom Book Club this afternoon at 5:00 p.m..  We discussed the book, Hidden Figures  The Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly.  We plan on doing another Zoom program for our Garden Club next Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

We are working on a description on how to use Zoom.

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

I spent some time contacting people about the census last night.

I watched some more episodes of The Science of Gardening on Kanopy last night.

I am talking to people about computer issues.

I am reading the e-book The Goodness Paradox The Strange Relationship Between Virtue and Violence in Human Evolution by Richard Wrangham on Overdrive.  This book describes how human beings have low amounts of reactive violence allowing for cooperation and high amounts of proactive violence creating planned violence and warfare.

I finished watching The Science of Gardening on Kanopy today.  I like watching things about plants.  I find it calming.

I talked to some of my colleagues this morning.  We are working on putting together some flyers and descriptions for the website.

Soon we will be able to do some programming on Zoom.

I watched some more episodes of The Science of Gardening on Kanopy.

I also watched the episode Glass:  How We Got to Now on Kanopy as well.

I also the second volume of Spider Man: Miles Morales on Hoopla Digital.  I enjoyed reading it.  It has a very large cast of superheros and lots of psychodrama.

I have been reading more comics on Hoopla lately.  They have a set of bonus reads each one with items that don't count towards your total amount of reads.  This has let me read a few Star Trek and Spider Man comics.

I have also been looking at Instagram some more.

I watched some more episodes of The Science of Gardening on Hoopla.

I also read a survival oriented books on Overdrive.  There are a lot of them.  There are even a few on the corona virus.

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

Last night I read Tales from the Loop by Simon Stalenhag on Overdrive.  It is an illustrated set of fantasy stories set around a fictional supercollider in Sweden.  The illustrations are extremely interesting.  There are pictures of dinosaurs, strange machines, and robots in an odd alternate history.  I enjoyed reading it.

I watched another episode of The Science of Gardening on Kanopy.

I have been reading comics on Hoopla.  I read Spider Man: Miles Morales Volume 1.  I also took some time to look through what I had read or looked at on Hoopla.  There are 184 items.

I finished reading Why Meditate? by Matthieu Ricard.  It is a very solid introduction to meditation with a buddhist focus.

Last night, I watched some more of The Science of Gardening on Kanopy.

I have to work on some bibliographies for next week.  I have some old bookmarks which I am looking over.

I finished up the grant for the windows today.  It was a relief knowing it was accepted.

I am also talking to the Friends of the Mount Vernon Public Library.

Last night, I read some more of Why Meditate?  The next part of the book which I am reading is about altruism and compassion in meditation.

I spent a little time checking on grants.

I am working with a colleague on the Instagram account for the library.

I am watching The Science of Gardening which is part of the Great Courses series on Kanopy.

I read Star Trek Year Five on Hoopla.  It is a graphic novel.  Hoopla has an excellent collection of graphic novels.

I attended the Mount Vernon Complete Count Committee for the Census on Zoom at noon.  Hopefully we will soon have more public service announcements from local officials.  We are currently at 37.3% for our census response rate.

We worked on some flyers and descriptions for the website.

Tomorrow is the Complete Count Committee for the Census for the City of Mount Vernon.

I am reading Why Meditate? Working With Thoughts and Emotions by Matthieu Ricard.  Matthieu Ricard is sometimes called the happiest man in the world.  This is a basic meditation text.  I am reading it on Overdrive.

I read some of  Simmons Global Environmental History 10,000 B.C. to 2000 A.D. by Sahana Bawa on the Internet Archive.  I find it interesting.  There are a lot of conjectures about how ancient empires fell because of environmental degradation; drought, lead poisoning, desertification, volcanic eruptions and other things.

I watched some episodes of Fundamentals of Sustainable Living on Kanopy which is part of the Great Courses series.

I read some of The Art of Memory by Frances A. Yates.  The last part of the book is about how the scientific method is related to memory practices.

I went into work today.  I needed to put some orders in for books.  I also got an invoice for some e-books.

I also attended the Mount Vernon Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting via Zoom tonight at 6:30 p.m.  All of the part-timers were laid off.

I also did a little administrative work describing the part timers jobs who worked for me.

I also read some more of The Art of Memory by Frances A. Yates.

I worked on a grant this morning.

We had a meeting today of the managers of the library.  We were discussing things on Zoom.

I watched some more educational videos on Kanopy.  The complete course catalog of the Great Courses is available with unlimited uses on Kanopy.

I finished putting in a grant this evening for Arts Westchester.

I read some more of The Art of Memory.

I spent some time looking at prepper handbooks on Overdrive.  There was no reason for it.  Most of it is how to make a bug out bag, first aid, how to store food, live off the land, and what to do during a disaster.  There is a lot more interest in this right now because of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Today is the launch day for the Census, April 1st, 2020.  The Census is happening now.

I have been taking a break from reading and watching The Great Courses Understanding Greek and Roman Technology on Kanopy.  It is a series of 24 half hour episodes.  Kanopy is giving additional viewings this month.   We are getting 20 views a month now.  I watched part of it last month.  I will be able to watch the whole series of streaming lectures.
