Daily Thoughts 07/19/2019

I checked the library Twitter and Facebook this morning.

I have been reading a book called Caveman Chemistry 28 Projects from the Creation of Fire to the Production of Plastics by Kevin M. Dunn.  It is a book about how people use chemistry to make basic things like plastic, ethanol, cleaning products, and other things. It is well written and gives an idea on how many every day things were created.

I also read another book called The Human Powered Home Choosing Muscles Over Motors by Tamara Dean.  This is a book about intermediate technology, sometimes called alternative technology.  It describes how to use different muscle powered machines for farming, cooking, and other activities.  A lot of this is based on the bicycle, the flywheel, and the hand crank.
