Daily Thoughts  03/07/2015

I checked the Facebook and Twitter pages of the library.

On the way to work, I read a little more of The Second Machine Age.  I am reading about the concept of Winner Take All with information technology.  There is a description of how digital technologies concentrate wealth and tend to provide the most money to the top product.

I checked the displays and the gift books this morning.

I spent some time looking at library mission statesments.  I rather like the White Plains Public Library mission statement.  http://whiteplainslibrary.org/mission/

I did a bit more work with the Latino History grant from ALA.  I also registered with Poets and Writers so I could apply for funding. http://www.pw.org

On the way home, I read some more of The Second Machine Age.  There is a reminder that there needs to be a move away from rote education to more flexible education which includes the abililty to think and come up with new ideas.
