Daily Thoughts 05/02/2014

On the way to work, I finished reading Opportunity Knocking Lessons from Business Leaders by Lori Ann LaRocco.  It is just right for a business book.  The length is 148 pages.  It is easy to carry around on the subway or train and would make good commuter or travel reading.  The book has an index, notes, and an appendix with quotes from each business leader which Lori Ann LaRocco writes about.  I am reading this in preparation for her coming to the Mount Vernon Public Library on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This morning, I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library.  I have been trying to post regularly about the vote on May 6, 2014 between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Public Library.  I also checked the displays and the gift books.

The Friends of the Mount Vernon Public Library Book and Bake Sale is today and tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..  I stopped by had a cup of coffee, bought a brownie, and book, Who Are You? 101 Ways of Seeing Yourself by Malcolm Godwin.

I am looking at On The Edge, The Art of High Impact Leadership by Alison Levine.  It is a business book.  However, there are also color pictures of mountaineering in it.  It should be interesting.

http://www.risingmediagroup.com/images/web%20pdfs/5-2mtvernon_rising.pdf  On P.1 of the Mount Vernon Rising, May 2, 2014 Issue there is an article called Public to Vote on Mt. Vernon Library Budget for the First Time.

In the latest paper copy of the May Mount Vernon Inquirer, there is an advertisement in support of the library.

I spent some time going over who I would visit on the Exhibitor floor at Book Expo America. I will put them in order by number before I go on the show floor.  This way I can start at the beginning and see most of the exhibitors I want to see.
