Daily Thoughts 05/18/2014

This morning, I checked the Twitter and Facebook for the library.  I was also confirmed for the AAP Adult Librarians' Dinner at BEA 2014 on May 28, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. It should be enjoyable.  I think I'm a bit more ready this year.

I started reading Thrive The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating A Life of Well-Being, Wisdom and Wonder by Arianna Huffington.  This book at its opening questions the search for money and power and asks the question "What is the good life?".

I placed a hold on the book, The Authority by Jeff Vandermeer.  It is on the New York Times Bestseller list.

I had a chance to go to Barnes and Noble today.  I bought two Pete the Cat children's books, Pete the Cat Play Ball by James Dean and Pete the Cat Too Cool for School by Kimberly and James Dean.  I like the illustration and the stories.  The imagery really resonates with me.

I also placed a hold on Sea Without A Shore by David Drake which is the tenth book in the RCN military science fiction series.

There were two books that looked very interesting, the first is The Pearl That Broke the Shell by Nadia Hashimi which is a fiction book where a young woman passes as a boy using the custom of bacha posh in Afghanistan to keep her family together. The second is Unstoppable The Emerging Left Right Alliance to Dismantle the Corporate State by Ralph Nader.  Also there was an interesting book on music, Shining Star Braving the Elements of Earth, Wind, and Fire by Philip Bailey.

I read a bit more of My Boyfriend Barfed in My Handbag And Other Things You Can't Ask Martha by Jolie Kerr.
